Rebranding Brand Democrat
Published by sirshannon November 25th, 2004 in GeneralFirst, Oliver Willis came up with the best thing I’ve seen on his site: Brand Democrat. Then someone decided to Rebrand Democrat.
Now, Stephen VanDyke, a Libertarian and damn fine political blogger (how rare!) gets it right with his version, one that more closely resembles the whole truth than either of the others.
Cute, but X does not equal Y. The elephant will stomp on you and has been doing so since the Fundies and their funds took over the party. The worse thing the donkey ever did was make you step around your yard a little more carefully. But no one will “screw you” quite as thoroughly as a Republican
Wrong on all counts. If you actually believe that Republicans are that bad and that Democrats are that good, then you either aren’t paying attention or you are too young to have ever voted for a winning Democratic President (and no, Gore doesn’t count). It is extremely easy to blame the last 4 years on Republicans but if you look at the last 8 years, even, let alone the last 200+, you wouldn’t be able to make comments like that.
