The truth doesn’t care what I think.
Rhapsody has a “blog playlist” function that works for MT but not for WordPress. I added a few lines to the bookmarklet.php page in order to make it work.
You can get the altered file here.
This is for WordPress 1.2.1, I haven’t even looked at any other version so I doubt it will work in a different version. Also, I haven’t tested this with any other bookmarklet changes/functionality so it may completely break something you’ve done, so please don’t blame me… it works on my machine.
hey there — i work for rhapsody and your post was pointed out to me by a co-worker. i’m glad you like the ‘blog this’ feature; we’re hoping to enhance it further in the next version of rhapsody, which we’re working on now.
you might like a blog that i run with the person who told me about yours. it’s called rhapsody rock school and is devoted entirely to blogging rhapsody playlists. you can check it out at http://rockschool.blogspot.com if you’re curious. otherwise, take care and keep enjoying rhapsody.

I’ve visited the site a few times, still haven’t found the RSS feed so I don’t visit as often as I would… Also, your site doesn’t allow me to leave a comment because I am not a member of Blogger.com and I can’t even find a contact page on the site anywhere, so I can’t find a way to tell you that some of the playlist links on your site suffer from the all-too-common problem with Rhapsody Playlists and Blogger.com where the URL is split and “tracks” appears as an attribute of the anchor tag. (See the “New and Notable Nov 30″ post for an example).
Please tell me there will be a “minimize to notification area” option in the next version.
Thanks much for the alteration! Works like a dream. Now if I can only find a way to customize the appearance of the site…
hey there —
thanks for the feedback on rhapsody rock school. i just changed the comment settings so you should be able to leave comments there now without having to be a blogger member; i didn’t realize that that was the default setting. also, the rss feed for the blog is available via http://rockschool.blogspot.com/atom.xml
i’ve been noticing that blogger.com breaks rhapsody playlist links sometimes. i’m not sure exactly why this happens, but happen it does, and we’re working with our team to figure out what’s wrong and fix it. i’m not a programmer so i sadly don’t know what you mean about the attributes of anchor tags.
what do you mean about the “minimize to notification area” option?
matt
“minimize to notification area” means when you click “minimize” (or “close”), the program minimizes but the button on the Windows taskbar goes away and the program icon appears in the notification area. The notification area is the area beside the clock.
The Rhapsody miniplayer doesn’t really serve any purpose at all if the program doesn’t minimize to the taskbar.
Rhapsody is the only music program I use that doesn’t minimize to the notification area. Windows Media Player doesn’t but I don’t use it for music.
Thanks for the Atom link.
This worked great in 1.2.x and I loved it - thanks for putting together the fix! Any chance you might tweak the 1.5.x files as well? I just upgraded our blog and this is one mod I’d love to get working again.
I just upgraded to the new version of Rhapsody this morning and haven’t tested to see if it still works yet, but I haven’t upgraded this blog to WordPress 1.5 yet, so I can’t really do anything about it at the moment.
And I think I’m going to cancel my Rhapsody subscription this afternoon, if I can’t downgrade to the older version of Rhapsody. The new one has some cool features but fixes none of the problems I had with previous versions and adds the bullshit that pissed me off about Napster (like playing 30 second previews of songs in my playlists that they pulled instead of skipping them, and they don’t even indicate those songs will be 30 sec clips, either, until they come on and then fade out after 30 seconds). They also removed the “doubleclicking a song adds it to the currently playing list instead of playing it” option.
So, if I can’t downgrade Rhapsody, it will be uninstalled before I ever get a change to play with WordPress 1.5 and I won’t be making a new version of this fix.
Sorry.
