The Dallas Mavericks’ Newest Fan
Like most ‘team’ situations, I choose sports teams to back for reasons that have little to nothing to do with the teams themselves. After all, how could I have ever been a Hornets fan if it had anything to do with the team? And how could the Redskins have fans now?
I was a Hornets fan and, like most Charlotteans that cared, I turned against them due to the owner. The owner of the Charlotte Bobcats (and his bold “f you” to the majority of potential fans in the Charlotte area) is the main reason why I can not back them. And the owner of the Dallas Mavs is a large part of why I back them now. Mark Cuban is shaking things up in the NBA but not in a rebellious way. He’s rocking the boat driving to wake the captain before they crash into the rocks. The NBA is a big ship, though, and 1 person rocking doesn’t do much. Hopefully he’ll continue what he’s doing because I think he’s doing some good.
Another reason to pull for the Mavs is their colors. It is hard to top blue.
At least I’ll be able to go see one game this season. If anyone wants to buy me some tickets or some Mavs gear, just leave a message to this post and I’ll send you the address.
