Figured I would post a resolution to the limted user account problem. Perform the following in an administrator account.

1) Start | Run

2) Type regedit and click ok

3) Navigate to : HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE | SOFTWARE | YAHOO | YMP

4) Right Click Preferences and select Permissions

5) Highlight Users in the top box and checkmark Full Control under Allow

Log into Windows on the limted account and YME should launch.

same problem as Sharon. tried to download songs that I purchased and they will not download. what is bs is that they charge you before the download has even taken place and state that they will not refund you the money. when a screen comes up to go to contact customer care then you get a page that "Sorry, the page you requested was not found.

I had a few problems with yahoo music engine myself. I got charged for 6 songs but they wouldn't download. I checked my credit card bill and they charged me for it. So I wrote 2 emails and still haven't gotten a reply.

I foolishly signed up for a year's worth of Yahoo Music Unlimited based on Yahoo's terms of service. A great deal. Then I tried to install YME on a second computer on my network which uses a DI-604 and DSL modem to connect to the internet. No matter what I did, (firmware updates, full and minimal installations, all software absolutely updated and patched, all antispyware off and antivirus processes shut down) it won't allow install. There are full administrator rights as well.

I get the popup window which shows the loading of components and then ... nothing. Just like the service response I've gotten from Yahoo- nothing specifically in response to my most specific and detailed queries for assistance. So far, I've sent in 4 queries with one, semi-canned and totally generic response back.

Here's what they wrote: "You should be able to install this on several different systems. You will need to ensure that you have all active applications, firewalls, ad removal and virus programs closed before installing the Yahoo! Music Engine." I had already told them I had done this. No service ticket, no contact person. They even referred me away from Yahoo Music to general Yahoo if I "had further questions."

Am I missing something here? Shouldn't Yahoo at least get back to me, seeing how I've been quite specific in my queries and am a full subscriber, paid in full?

okay, I eventually did get a response from Yahoo Customer Care but it offered less information than you did and no help at all. Basically saying "yeah, we know it is broken and no, we won't tell you how to work around it." It amazes me how little customer care you get from some Customer Care centers these days...

The full email is below:

Thanks for the reply.

Lack of "a satisfactory answer" isn't nearly as bad as complete and utter lack of any answer at all, satisfactory or not. I know the product is in beta but you should either provide answers to your paying customers or give the product away for free (and I'm speaking of YME and YMU together here because I wouldn't consider using either by themselves).

I guess I'll be uninstalling YME this evening, I have already cancelled my YMU subscription and see no reason to have both Rhapsody and Yahoo Unlimited both installed since only Rhapsody works for both users on my computer. The fact that Y! Messenger and Y!ME desktop icons are on the limited user's desktop just makes the whole thing that much worse.

Please let me know when you correct this showstopper and I'll probably give it another shot.

Hey there, I actually work on the development team for YME. I am sorry that you have not received a satisfactory answer from our customer care team, but I can tell you that the admin rights issue is a known problem and we will be fixing it before we come out of beta.
