<p>God who gave us life gave us<br />
liberty.  Can the liberties of a<br />
nation be secure when we have<br />
removed a conviction that these<br />
liberties are the gift of God?<br />
Indeed I tremble for my country<br />
when I reflect that God is just,<br />
that his justic cannot sleep for-<br />
ever.  Commerce between master<br />
and slave is despotism.  Nothing<br />
is more certainly written in the<br />
book of fate than that these<br />
people are to be free.  Establish<br />
the law for educating the common<br />
people.  This it is the business<br />
of the state to effect and on<br />
a general plan. </p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>It still feels good to say &#8220;President Obama&#8221; out loud.   Anything would be an improvement over the last guy but I really do feel like America just leveled up.  This was the first time I felt the desire to donate to a presidential candidate (and the second time&#8230;  I donated to Ron Paul and to Obama), the first time I have ever bought a book by or about a president or presidential candidate, and the first time in my life that I have ever really felt like there was a good candidate for the office.</p>
<p>And for that candidate to win?  That is a great feeling.  Reality will set in soon enough for but now, I&#8217;m gonna enjoy this afterglow.</p>

<p>We were in and out in less than 30 minutes. I would have posted this while sitting in line but there was this sign in the elevator&#8230;</p>

<p> I didn&#8217;t mind when G. W. Bush was first &#8220;elected&#8221;; I preferred him over Gore. I don&#8217;t think many of us were capable of predicting how much evil Bush and Cheney could get away with, let alone attempt, in 8 years but we are no longer the same innocent prosperous nation we were when Clinton left office. We KNOW what a powerhungry administration is capable of now if power and money are all that drives them. And when I saw McCain stand before the Republican National Convention performing as a puppet, repeating the lines written by the same pens that wrote the lines Bush smugly recited in the times we needed an honest, intelligent, and capable leader, I knew EXACTLY how evil, damaging, dangerous, and completely out of his own control McCain will be if he is elected </p>
<p>And that scares the shit out of me.</p>
<p>And so, this year I will be casting my vote against McCain in the best way I know how: by voting for Obama. I will not be voting for the lesser of two evils, because I do not think Obama is evil. I am sure McCain&#8217;s new masters are. And I feel I must do what I can to prevent any further damage to my great nation. Enough is enough.</p>
<p>The sign in the photo is at Obama Headquarters here in my hood (Elizabeth) in Charlotte, 28204. I won&#8217;t vote often but I will vote early. And then turn my attention towards helping others vote and get the word out about why this election is so damn important. But probably just by donating cash, because I am still a lazy bastard <img src='http://sirshannon.com/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_wink.gif' alt=';)' class='wp-smiley' />     </p>
